What was the Bay of Pigs?
The Bay of Pigs is the site of the unsuccessful invasion of Cuba by CIA trained Cuban exiles. The conflict was launched April 14, 1961 and ended in complete disaster when invaders surrendered on the afternoon of April 19. More than 200 people were killed; another 1,197 were taken captive. The failure can be attributed to poor planning by commanders, and the lack of local Cuban support once the invasion began. Have a ChaCha day!
