No one invented electricity, but scientists did not make great progress in understanding electricity until the 1700s.
From the writings of Thales of Miletus it appears that Westerners knew as long ago as 600 B.C. that amber becomes (MORE?)
Electricity was never "invented," because it occurs naturally. It has been used in different ways since as early as 900BC. ChaCha!
In 600 B.C., Thales of Miletus wrote about amber becoming charged by rubbing(he was describing what we call static electricity).
