Q:

Why are flags half mast today? Why are the flags at half mast today

Answer

Sadly, I can find no mention of South Carolina flags being flown at half staff. It is either a mistake, or someone local has died.

I could not find a reason for flags to be at half mast today. They are sometimes done locally to honor someone in town. ChaCha!

Flags were half mast to honor police officers who have lost their lives and today to honor fallen soldiers for Memorial Day.

In MD, this is in memory of Former Delegate Pauline H. Menes, a Member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1967 to 2007

May 15, 2009 has been designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Flags are to fly at half-staff to honor fallen officers. ChaCha!
