Why did they stop making red M & M's?
Red M&M's (r) were discontinued for 11 years from 1976 to 1985 after the FDA banned Red Dye No. 2, even though Red M&M's (r) did not contain this dye. They have always used Red #'s 3 and 40! ChaCha again!

About M&M
M&Ms are small chocolates with a thin candy shell that helped to keep them from melting in the hands of soldiers during WWII. M&Ms are manufactured by the Mars Candy Corporation and come in lots of different flavors including peanut, peanut butter, almond, pretzel, coconut, dark chocolate, dark chocolate peanut, chocolate mint and cherry cordial.
