Why is hydrogen located in a group with reactive metals?
H is part of alkali metals and are powerful reducing agents. All react violently with water, releasing H and form hydroxides.

Hydrogen is placed at the top of the alkali metals group but most of its properties are very different from those of alkali metals. Only under extremely high pressure, hydrogen shares some properties with alkali metals.
