It had cracked before (but was mended), so when the bell rang on Washington's birthday, Feb. 26th, 1846, it cracked irreparably.
On the first ringing of the Liberty Bell, the Bell cracked. ChaCha again!
It was dropped in the early 1950's. And was cracked.
It was set in order of that day by having the edges of the fracture filed so as not to vibrate against each other. ChaCha back!
