About Seattle
Seattle is the largest city in the state of Washington, just over 100 miles south of the United States/Canada border. Seattle is named after Chief Sealth ''Seattle'' of the Duwamish and Suquamish native tribes. The city's population is around 609,000 residents. Seattle is the birthplace of the rock music style ''grunge,'' with local bands being Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana and Alice in Chains. The Port of Seattle is the 8th largest port int he United States, being a major port for trade with Asia.
