Alaska
Alaska is the largest state in the United States; it is bordered by Canada, the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and Russia across the Bering Strait. The climate in Alaska is an oceanic climate in the southern panhandle with a subarctic oceanic climate in the northern part of the state. The panhandle typically is the warmest and wettest part of Alaska. You will most likely find temperatures in the winter above freezing in this part of the state, which is unlikely in the rest.

About Alaska
The Gold Rush in the 1890’s brought many miners to the region that also settled here and the area was granted territorial status in 1912. Alaska was later admitted to the union on January 3, 1959 as the 49th state with a total state area of 663,268 sq miles, the largest in the United States.
The state capital of Alaska is Juneau and Anchorage is the largest city. Alaska is also known as the The Last Frontier’ due to its opportunities in lightly populated areas. The state bird is the Willow Ptarmigan, the state flower is the Forget Me Not, and the state tree is the Sitka Spruce. Alaska’s state motto is North to the Future. The motto represents Alaska as a land of promise.
One of the Alaska’s biggest attractions is its beautiful landscape. While in Anchorage visit Horse Trekkin Alaska. Ride in the Chugach Mountains or go on a camping trip of a lifetime. Whether you enjoy a slow and easy pace tour or a fast paced adventure, you will find it here. For the art lover the Anchorage Museum of History and Art offers many exhibits on the Alaskan culture. In Fairbanks the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum features 74 American-engineered automobiles in a 30,000 sq.ft. museum with tours available. Also in Fairbanks is the Alaskaland - Pioneer Park. This part was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the purchase of Alaska from Russia. The park has a mock gold-rush town, mining equipment, museums, and so much more to take you back in time!
