Axe Body Spray is a fragranced aerosol deodorant sold by British/Dutch company Unilever. The product is marketed toward young males. Axe Body Spray is known for its edgy ad campaigns targeted to young men.

About Axe Body Spray

Axe Body Spray quickly spread throughout Europe with its creative and edgy messaging aimed towards young males. In 2002 Axe launched their spray-on deodorants in the United States with the scents Apollo, Kilo, Phoenix, Tsunami, and Voodoo. Since then, Axe has continued to add new fragrances, some in limited editions. In 2009, the Axe brand further expanded into other grooming products, including shower gels, shampoos, hairstyling products, colognes, aftershaves, and skin care products.

When introduced in the US, Axe launched with a bold TV and print marketing strategy which told high school and college-age guys they could not get girls without Axe Body Spray. Axe even threw parties for the product on college campuses to promote the so-called 'Axe effect.' The ads paid off, and today more than 15% of all males claim to use spray-on deodorant.

Axe Body Spray is also notorious for a prank which became known as the 'Axe bomb.' Guys would take a can of Axe, break the top, and throw the body spray into a confined space like a dorm room. After a few minutes the can would empty its contents leaving behind an incredibly strong-scented aroma. When the target would get back, even hours later, there would be no mistaking what just happened.

Axe Body Spray is heavily advertised as a solution to boost sexual prowess, though with a tongue-in-cheek attitude that is appealing to its target audience. The pleasing fragrance is said to attract the woman of your dreams like none other. The body spray should be applied to the neck or forearm for best results. Spraying on the clothes directly also is suitable.
