Jay Dee 'B.J.' Penn (born December 13, 1978) is an American mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Penn was the first American and non-Brazilian winner of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the black belt category. BJ Penn is regarded as one of the most gifted martial arts fighters in the world.. He is known for his incredible flexibility and his willingness to fight anyone regardless of their weight class, fighting as high as Light Heavyweight (weighed in at 191 lb) when he competed against Lyoto Machida (who weighed in at 225 lb) in 2005.
