Baby showers are a time-honored tradition in our society that are thrown for expectant mothers-to-be. Traditionally, baby showers are for the mother and only women attend, but some modern day celebrations do include the father as part of the festivities.

Baby showers are a great way to help the Mom and Dad prepare for their newborn with gifts of items they will need. Some awesome baby shower gifts include cribs, bassinets, strollers, car seats, clothes, diapers, and other essentials needed for baby care. The more expensive gifts are a great way for family and co-workers to work together and each chip in and buy something really costly to new parents.

Baby shower invitations can include both men and women. Even though some men think they are too macho for such an occasion, you can make it manly by getting rid of some of the frills. Throw it on a Sunday afternoon during race time or on game day. The men will feel less silly if they admit they are going just to watch the game or the race.

Baby Showers often involve games. Guests love to participate in games and win a prize. Some games include, guessing the circumference of the mother’s belly, word unscrambles, baby bingo, and guess how many jelly beans are in a baby bottle. The ideas are endless and many can be found online.

When throwing a baby shower it is also important to register for the gifts you really want and need. Registering can be done online at many retail stores and online baby stores. This is a great way to avoid duplicate gifts and easy shopping for people out of town. They can purchase items and have them sent directly to you, especially convenient if they can’t make it to the party.

Another idea for a large baby shower is the display shower. This type of baby shower allows you to display all the gifts you received from your guests without having to do it in a hurry, like an assembly line. When doing a display shower you ask guest not to wrap their gifts. When the guest arrives their gift is taken to a specific area where it is taken from the box and displayed so everyone can take a look and see all of the fantastic gifts for your new baby without being rushed. It makes for a peaceful and leisure filled afternoon that you can spend with friends and family.
