Bentley

Bentley Motors Limited is a British manufacturer of automobiles founded by Walter Owen Bentley in 1919. Bentley had been previously known for their World War I airplane engines used in the Sopwith Camel. The company was purchased by the Volkswagen Group of Germany in 1998.

About Bentley

Bentley's production cars became famous for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930. In 1931 Bentley Motors was purchased by Rolls-Royce, and production was moved from London to Derby and finally to Crewe. The Volkswagen Group purchased Bentley Motors in 1998 and the business remains with them today. They are still located in Crewe, and all of their central production facilities are there.
