Beta Theta Pi, is one of the oldest social collegiate fraternities in North America. It was founded in 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, USA. The fraternity currently consists of approximately 140 active chapters and colonies in the United States and Canada. Over 190,000 (2010) members have been initiated worldwide, with approximately 133,000 living initiated members. There are currently more than 8,000 undergraduate members. The fraternity's administrative office is located at 5134 Bonham Road, Oxford, Ohio. The main driveway to the administrative office in 2006 was renamed 'Lugar-Bates Drive' in appreciation for the work that Senator Richard Lugar Denison '54 and Bert Bates Missouri '56 performed in a $20 million 'Upon These Principles' capital campaign. Beta Theta Pi is one of three major fraternities that, collectively, form a group called the Miami Triad due to their common founding at Miami University. Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Chi are the other members.
