About Big Bang Theory (Show)

Set in Pasadena, California, 'The Big Bang Theory' follows two Caltech prodigies in their 20s - an experimental physicist named Leonard Hofstadter (Emmy Award-nominated Johnny Galecki) and a theoretical physicist named Sheldon Cooper (Emmy Award-winner Jim Parsons) - who live across the hall from an attractive blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations named Penny (Kaley Cuoco). Leonard and Sheldon's bizarre intellect and tchotchke collections are contrasted hilariously with Penny's social skills and common sense. Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Rajesh (Kunal Nayyar), are also main characters.

In August 2009, the sitcom won the best comedy series TCA award and Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy. When the third season premiered on September 21, 2009, it ranked as CBS's highest-rated show of that evening with adults 18–49, along with a then series-high 12.83 million viewers. Jim Parsons won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series in 2010, and the show received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2011
