Yao Defen, a native of China that stands at a height of 7 ft 8 in., currently claims to be the tallest woman in the world. The Guiness Book of World Records disputes this fact and is currently conducting a search across the globe to determine if there are any who are taller. Yao's abnormal height is caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland of her brain which causes her body to release too much growth hormone.

The record for the tallest woman who has ever lived was Zeng Jinlian, also of China. Zeng was measured and confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records to have a height of 8 ft. 1 ¾ in. Zeng passed away at the age of 17 on February 13, 1982.

The world’s heaviest woman ever is said to be Renee Teresa Scarfa. She claimed to have weighed over 1800 pounds! That is heavier than some horses! She passed away at the age of 49 in 2008 due to cardiac complications.
