About Burn Calories

-How Can I Burn Calories?-

Just about everything you do burns some calories. You actually burn calories by just sitting still. You body burns calories while you are digesting food and while you are chewing gum. While that sounds wonderful, you actually will not burn enough calories to maintain a healthy lifestyle by just relying on doing nothing. The only most efficient way to burn off calories is by doing cardiovascular exercise. You have to do consistent cardio at a level that challenges your body for it to be the best way to burn off calories. This could be whether you are trying to lose weight or you just want to maintain your weight.

-What is a Cardio Workout?-

A cardio workout is any movement that raises your heart rate for a period of time (for example, 20 to 30 minutes or longer). During your cardio workout, you should be sweating and breathing hard during the most intense part of your workout. If you are sweating and breathing hard, then you know that you are doing it right. You should be staying within your target heart range. If your workout is too easy, then it won’t be as effective. You have to be careful though, because you could hurt yourself by working out an intensity that is too hard. You could use the talk test to check to be sure you are not working too hard. The Talk Test is a test that you could do on yourself while you are working out. You should be able to comfortably answer a question while you are exercising. If you are gasping and too out of breath to get the words out, then you are working too hard and you may be overexerting yourself. On the flip side, if you are able to carry on a long discussion without any problems, then you are not exerting yourself enough.

You should set a goal to work out five or six days a week. If you are just starting out, then you could go for a minimum of 3 days a week. You could gradually intensify your workouts and then gradually add a few more days. Make sure to give yourself some rest too. Recovery is good for the body after working out.

You should be exercising anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes. The amount of time is dependent on your fitness level. You should start out with what is comfortable for you. You will find that with each workout, you should be able to push your time just a bit longer. The more minutes that you exercise after the initially 20 minutes, the more calories you are burning. Several mini workouts throughout the day can be beneficial as well.

-Exercises that Burn Calories-

Some examples of calorie burning exercises are walking, running, hiking, aerobics, swimming, rowing and skating. Basically any activity that gets your heart rate up is good for burning calories.
