About Channing Tatum

Known For: 'Step-Up' and 'Dear John.'

Channing Tatum began his career in movies through his ventures as a male model. He now appears in a number of feature films with big studio backing. His most recent films include 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra' and 'Dear John.' Tatum grew up in rural Mississippi and played numerous sports as a child. Throughout school he notes that girls were his biggest distraction.

Upon graduation, Tatum was offered a scholarship to play football at Glenville State College. He turned it down, instead opting to return home and work odd jobs. It was at this time that Tatum began working as an exotic dancer under the stage name 'Chan Crawford.'

Tatum later moved to Miami and was discovered by a model talent scout. Before getting his break in the fashion industry, Tatum appeared in Rick Martin's music video for 'She Bangs.'
