About Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs are a member of the National League's Central Division in Major League Baseball (MLB) and a member of the Grapefruit League. The Cubs are one of two remaining charter members of the National League, the other being the Atlanta Braves. The Chicago Cubs are sometimes referred to as 'The Northsiders' locally because their stadium is located on the north side of Chicago in the Lakeview community, and because there are two teams in Chicago. (The White Sox are on the South Side.} They can also be referred to as the Cubbies or the 'Boys in Blue.'

The Cubs' manager is Lou Piniella, a former Reds manager. They are currently owned by TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts. He purchased them from the Tribune at the end of the 2009 season. The Cubs have a great culture due to their lengthly MLB history. They coined the term 'White Flag time,' which is when they raise a white flag with 'W' printed on it to designate a victory. The Cubs have not won a World Series championship since 1908 and have not appeared in the Fall Classic since 1945. It is the longest drought in professional sports history (including NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB). It may have something to do with the curse of the billy goat.
