Actor Chris Hemsworth broke onto the international movie scene out of nowhere in 2009, appearing in 'Star Trek' and landing the role of Thor in the Marvel Comics superhero movie, 'Thor' and 'The Avengers'. In Australia he became famous on the soap opera 'Home and Away'.

Chris Hemsworth is best known in his home country of Australia for starring on the popular soap opera Home and Away’ as Kim Hyde. He began work on the show in 2004 and played Kim for three seasons. The popular role eventually led to him waltzing on Australia's 'Dancing with the Stars' which he won. With his star on the rise, Hemsworth left 'Home and Away' in 2007 to pursue a career in film.

He made his transition from television to the big screen with a small but important role in the movie Star Trek’ (2009), playing George Kirk, father the Enterprise's Captain, James T. Kirk, played by Chris Pine. Hemsworth then went on the star in A Perfect Getaway’ (2009), Ca$h’ (2010), and the remake of the 80's classic 'Red Dawn' (2010).

Fans of Marvel Comics know Chris as The Mighty Thor, a Norse warrior god and superhero in the film Thor’ (2011). As part of his contract with Marvel, Chris also was signed to reprise his role as Thor in the 2012 superhero film The Avengers’ with Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson.

In December 2010, over the Christmas holiday, Chris Hemsworth and Spanish actress, and girlfriend, Elsa Pataky married.
