The word cigarette is a French word from 'cigar' and 'ette,' meaning of course, little cigar. Smoking cigarettes and other types of tobacco products are harmful to your health. The government has banned smoking in most public places throughout the United States. Cigarettes are small cylinders of paper filled with fine cut tobacco products, and sometimes filters,used for smoking. Cigarettes are highly addictive and have been proven to cause cancer.

The government also post warning messages on cigarette packages to warn people of the dangers. Some countries use graphic messages as a better deterrent. Tobacco companies have long known of the dangers. Many companies add chemical additives to their products which can cause even more harm.
