Colin Farrell had a short stint on British television before his film debut in 'The War Zone' in 1998. His big break came in 2000 with the American film 'Tigerland,' portraying Pvt. Roland Bozz during the Vietnam War. Following 'Tigerland,' Farrell went on to star in two more American dramas: 'American Outlaws' (2001) and 'Hart's War' (2002). Farrell then began receiving widespread attention with his big commercial hits including 'Phone Booth' (2002), 'S.W.A.T.' (2003) and 'The Recruit' (2003). He has strong supporting roles under his belt, as well, as a determined cop in 'Minority Report' and a crafty villain in 'Daredevil.' His 2004 leading role in Oliver Stone's 'Alexander' showcased his talent, despite the picture receiving mixed reviews.

Farrell has also taken on independent films, including the comedy 'Intermission' (2003), which was the highest-grossing Irish independent film until 2006, and 'A Home at the End of the World' (2004), in which he portrayed a bisexual character. In 2005, Farrell starred in 'The New World' (2005) as Captain Smith, which was nominated for an academy award.

Farrell took home a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role in 'In Bruges' (2008). Later that year, he starred in 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' as was one of the many actors, including Jude Law and Johnny Depp, who helped finish production of the film after Heath Ledger's untimely death. He also landed a supporting role alongside Academy Award-winning Jeff Bridges in the country drama 'Crazy Heart' (2009).
