About Damages

'Damages' is a TV drama series on FX about a brilliant but ruthless lawyer named Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) and her protégée, law school graduate Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne). Each season revolves around a high stake case, and the often unethical tactics used to win these cases which leads down a path the lawyers may not have wished they had gone.

As the second and third seasons rolled in viewership began to drop and fell to about 1.4 million. The shows cancellation was discussed due to high costs and low ratings. 'Damages' production company Sony Pictures TV, however, came to an agreement with DirecTV to share the costs allowing the show to continue for a fourth season on the 101 Channel.

Despite its low ratings and near cancellation 'Damages' earned five Emmy nominations in 2010.
