Dancing with the Stars

'Dancing with the Stars' is an American celebrity reality dance show on ABC hosted by Tom Bergeron that premiered on June 1, 2005. On the show, professional dancers are paired with celebrities to compete for the Mirror Ball trophy. One couple is eliminated each week based on viewers' votes and scores from the three dance panel judges: Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman.

About Dancing with the Stars

'Dancing with the Stars' is a reality dance competition hosted by Emmy Award-winning game show host and television personality Tom Bergeron, which pairs professional dance partners with celebrities, athletes, and popular personalities. As they go head-to-head on the dance floor, their dance moves are scored on a 30-point scale by judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman. As a result of their combined scores and votes from the audience, competitors are eliminated until one champion remains to take home the Mirror Ball trophy.

The reality show is also based on the British series 'Strictly Come Dancing,' on which celebrities partner up with professional dancers and compete against each other in weekly elimination rounds to determine a champion.

Because of the popularity of 'Dancing with the Stars,' ABC schedules the show to air two seasons per year, one running from September to November and the other from March to May. As a result, two 'DWTS' champions are awarded each year.
