Declaration of Independence

is one of the two most famous documents in American history. It was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. It announced the separation of the thirteen American colonies from the British Empire.

About Declaration of Independence

The preamble of the Declaration is known for stating "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is the assertion that the people have certain rights and that when a government violates these rights, the people have the right to change or abolish the government.

The Declaration of Independence lists all the rights the British Crown, King George the III, violated.
