About Delta Airlines

Originally named Huff Daland Dusters, Incorporated, Delta was a crop dusting company that began its operations on May 30, 1924 in Macon, Georgia. In 1925, Delta moved to Monroe, Louisiana and started passenger airline service in late 1929. Collette Woolman took over the company on September 13, 1928, at which time it was renamed Delta Air Service. Over time, Delta grew by acquiring additional routes and other airlines. It shifted from propeller planes to jets in the 1970's, and later became a major player in international travel to Europe and across the Pacific in the 1980's.
