About Duffy

Known for: Singer/Songwriter

Inspired by Whoopi Goldberg’s performance in Sister Act’, Duffy began singing in various bands and performing in clubs. In 2007 she signed a contract with A&M Records. She made appearances on shows such as Later with Jools Holland,' Hootenany’ and The Culture Show' where she performed the songs Mercy, Rockferry and Stepping Stone.

In 2008 she released her debut album titled Rockferry’ which included the songs she had been performing live. Rockferry’ became the best selling album of the year in the UK. In the United States the album hit #4 on the Billboard charts. The single Mercy was a huge hit and has been featured on the television shows Grey’s Anatomy,' Dancing with the Stars’ and Glee.' It can also be found on the movie soundtrack for Sex and the City: The Movie’ (2008).

Duffy has never been interested in the fame side of her singing career. She got into the business strictly for her love of music, not for any desire to be idolized or recognized. She has mentioned numerous times that her notoriety actually makes her nervous. She dreads being approached; finding being recognized scary. She is also fearful that fame will change the person that she is.

In November of 2010, Duffy released her second album titled Endlessly.'
