Thomas was one of the youngest players eligible for the 2010 NFL Draft. He was also one of the most debated players in the NFL Draft pool being only 5-10 and 200 lbs. That is not the typical frame on someone playing strong safety in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks selected Earl Thomas with their second pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Thomas has the ability to read and react to various plays. He also has a tendency to be overaggressive. He has the speed to make the shift to cornerback but lacks the technique in backpedaling and coverage on double moves. Thomas has the speed to run with receivers. Thomas also has the ability to stop the run game but often over-pursues and fails to break down to make the tackle.
