Early Pregnancy

Early Pregnancy

Early pregnancy is usually considered the first trimester, or first three months, of the pregnancy, with a typical full-term pregnancy lasting nine months. During this time, great care must be taken to follow a proper diet, visit a doctor regularly and be careful not to engage in any behavior which may harm a developing fetus, such as smoking or drinking alcohol, as in all stages of pregnancy.

About Early Pregnancy

Early pregnancy symptoms may be felt before your first pregnancy test. These symptoms may even lead you to buy a test even before you miss a period. Keep in mind that these symptoms may also mean something else, like getting sick or getting your period. Consult your doctor to be sure.

Some of the most common early pregnancy symptoms include:

• Breast tenderness: Breast may swell just after two weeks of conception and become tender.
• Fatigue: The high level of progesterone being produced by your body can actually make you fall asleep.
• Spotting and Cramping: You may also notice some slight bleeding or cramping. This is usually caused by the egg implanting itself in the uterus. This is normal and isn’t cause for alarm. Severe cramping and blood would be cause to contact your doctor immediately.
• Nausea or morning sickness: This can begin as early as two weeks. Even though it is called morning sickness you can become ill at any time of the day or night.
• Headaches: These are usually caused by increased blood circulation but are very mild.
• Constipation: This is caused by high progesterone levels making the food move slower.
• Mood swings: They occur because of hormones now flooding your body. You may become emotional and cry for very little reason.
•Fainting and feeling lightheaded: This is caused by blood vessels dilating and making your blood pressure drop.
