Enigma is an electronic music group from Germany that was formed by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in 1990.

Enigma is an award winning electronic music group (also called a musical project) from Germany that was formed by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in 1990. Current group members are Michael Cretu, Andru Donalds and Margarita Roig. Other members of this group have been Sandra Ann Lauer (1990–2003), Jens Gad (1993–2003) and Peter Cornelius (1990–1996). Genres include World beat, Electronic, New Age and Downtempo.

Enigma was formed in Germany but Mike Cretu’s recording studio, A.R.T. Studios, is in Ibiza, Spain where all of Enigma’s studio albums were recorded. Enigma has won many awards including a World Music Award, ECHO Awards and Gold and Platinum awards from Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Enigma has had issues with music rights in the past often using samples of others music and sounds.

Enigma songs have appeared in many television series and movies. Some of the most notable TV series and movies include La Femme Nikita, My So-Called Life, Cold Case, The Scorpion King, Charlie's Angels, Single White Female, Tropic Thunder and The Matrix.
