Entourage

Entourage

Entourage is HBO's longest-running scripted show and will air its last season during summer 2011. A comedy featuring a pretty-boy celebrity and his pack of buddies, it launched in 2004.

About Entourage

HBO's comedy series Entourage launched in 2004. Produced by Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, it is loosely based on Wahlberg's experiences coming up in the movie business. Ari Gold, the super agent played by Jeremy Piven, is based on Rahm Emanuel's brother (and Mark Wahlberg's real-life agent), Ari Emanuel. Other characters are the centerpiece of the entourage, Vincent Vince Chase (Adrian Grenier), Eric E Murphy (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Johnny Drama Chase (Kevin Dillon).

Each episode typically features a real celebrity, and the series has had walk-ons by Jessica Alba, Gary Busey, Mark Wahlberg, Chuck Liddell, Larry David, Martin Scorsese, Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, James Cameron, Dennis Hopper, and many others.

The series was largely bypassed by the Emmys in 2010, a year in which it won only for its sound mixing. It won Best Comedy from 2006 -2009. Jeremy Piven won three straight Emmys as well for his role as the two-faced talent agent Ari Gold.

HBO announced in August 2010 that summer 2011 would be the series' last season. Discussion of a movie is in the works.
