About FC Alania Vladikavkaz

FC Alania Vladikavkaz is a Russian football club based in Vladikavkaz. In 2010, it replaced FC Moscow (who dropped out for financial reasons) in the Russian Premier League, but was relegated back after one season on the top level. It returned to the top level for the 2012/13 season after just one season below. By the collapse of the Soviet Union, Spartak Vladikavkaz were the only non-Muscovite Russian club competing in the old Soviet Top League. This had been their second and last season in the STL; before that the only other season they competed in the top Soviet division was in 1970.
