FedEx

Most people think FedEx is a company that just ships things but they do so much more. FedEx also has office services, marketing, logistics, print services, consulting, and customer service divisions.

About FedEx

FedEx is a United States based courier company. The main purpose of the company is to deliver packages and letters from one location to another in a timely manner. The company uses both air and ground methods of transportation as they deliver worldwide. Store locations can be found all across the globe.

FedEx began its journey in 1973 under the name Federal Express. The company was formed in Little Rock, Arizona but soon relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. The company brought upon the age of air/ground express shipping. In 1979 the company launched a system they called COSMOS which managed the vehicles in their fleet, the packages they were shipping, their employees and customers and even the weather scenarios in real time. This system helped them to expedite their services even better than before. In 1981 Federal Express introduced the Overnight Letter to the country. In 1983 Federal Express made history. All their hard work had paid off and they became the first company in the United States to reach revenue of $1 billion without having gone through a merger or acquisition.

In the 90’s Federal Express officially changed its name to FedEx as it was commonly called by its customers. The company is split into different services in the year 2000 and they are all grouped under a parent company that has been renamed FedEx Corporation. Each of its services operated independently. They are FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Global Logistics, FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Services. These services are distinguished from one another by the color of the EX’ in their name.
