FEMA

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is a bureau of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which assists in disaster relief efforts which overwhelm local area and state government agencies. The agency also provides state and local governments with support of a disaster that overwhelms a state and local agency. FEMA provides rebuilding assistance as well to disaster relief.

About FEMA

FEMA was organized in 1979 by Jimmy Carter. FEMA oversaw the nation's Civil Defense and a host of other programs. FMEA's power expanded throughout the 1980's. FEMA handled the disaster relief of Hurricanes' Andrew and Katrina, as well as the September 11th terrorist attacks.
