Florida

Florida is the southernmost state within the continental United States. It is locates in the Southeastern United States and is bordered to the north by Georgia and Alabama. It is bordered to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west by the Gulf of Mexico and to the south by the Straits of Florida and the Caribbean. Florida has a warm sub-tropical climate with summer temperatures averaging in the 90’s and winter temperatures in the upper 50’s.

About Florida

When most people think of Florida they picture white, sandy beaches and Walt Disney World. It’s true that the majority of visitors come to visit those places but Florida also has other things to offer to those looking to expand past the traditional Florida vacation destinations. If you plan to be in the Apollo Beach area in the winter a visit to the Manatee Viewing Center is a must-do. Here you can learn about and view the hundreds of Manatees that flock to the warm waters to escape the chill of winter. Visitors can also take a stroll through a mangrove habitat. In Naples take a trip through the Everglades on a bicycle tour and get a different view of the beautiful wetlands of Florida and see it’s creatures up close. In Kissimmee take a night to see the Arabian Nights; a dinner show that showcases some of the most talented equestrians in the world.

Florida became the 27th state to be admitted to the Union on March 3, 1845. The capital of the state is Tallahassee and the largest city is Jacksonville. The state bird is the Mockingbird, the state flower is the Orange Blossom, the state tree is the Sabal Palmetto Palm and the state reptile is the American Alligator. Florida’s is known as The Sunshine State and its motto is In God We Trust.
