French History

French History

The name 'France' comes from the Franks, a Germanic tribe that settled in the Western Roman Empire from the 2nd century. They then took over most of Gaul after the collapse of the empire. Fun Fact: Almost 20% of France's territory is outside of Europe. These regions are called "DOM-TOM".

About French History

French History is a journal published by the Oxford University Press on behalf of The Society for the Study of French History. It was founded in 1987 by Richard Bonney. Its current editors are Malcolm Crook and Julian Wright It is published four times a year (in March, June, September and December) and features articles covering the entire chronological range of French history.
