George Takei is an American actor and activist, best known for his role as Starfleet officer Hikaru Sulu in the original 'Star Trek' series and movies. Takei has become a geek god over the years, thanks mostly to social media - he has over 1 million fans on Facebook, and not all of them are Trekkies. He is an ardent gay rights advocate and often posts satiric public service announcements, including one responding to Tennessee’s "Don’t Say Gay" bill in which Takei offers the tag line, "It’s OK to be Takei."
