About Germany Soccer

Die Mannschaft, or The Team, is the National Soccer Team of Germany that has represented the country in international competition since 1908. The national team is governed by the German Football Association DFB (Deutscher Fubball-Bund), which was founded in 1900.

Germany historically is one of the most successful national teams in international competitions, having won 3 World Cups and 3 European Championships. Germany has also been runner-ups 4 times at the World Cup, and 3 times at the European Championships.

The current coaching staff of the national team is comprised of head coach Joachim Low, assistant coach Hans-Dieter Flick, Goalkeeper Coach Andreas Kopke, Athletic Coaches Shad Forsyth and Oliver Bartlett, and team manager Oliver Bierhoff.

The 2010 German World Cup team won new fans and widespread praise for selecting athletes from a variety of ethnic backgrounds; in fact, Germany was the most ethnically diverse team at the World Cup in 2010. Some have grumbled that the German World Cup team is 'not German enough,' but success on the field has silenced that small group of critics and pulled people all over the world behind the diverse and, more importantly, dominant German World Cup team.
