About Goober (peanut butter)

Goober is a combination of peanut butter and jelly within a single jar and possibly the first such combination of its type. It is sold in North America and Singapore and is named after a North American name for the peanut, which comes from the Gullah word for peanut, guber. Goober was introduced in 1968 by The J.M. Smucker Company under the Smucker's brand. It consists of alternating vertical stripes of peanut butter and either grape or strawberry flavored fruit preserves, or chocolate. A similar product is sold by Kroger under their name, the Ralphs brand name and as Yipes! Stripes! under Kroger's Disney Magic Selections label.
