Google was founded on September 4, 1998, by Sergey M. Brin and Lawrence E. Page, in Menlo Park, California. The company headquarters are currently located in Mountain View, California. Google bills itself as a multinational public cloud computing and Internet search technology company. It hosts and develops Internet-based services and products,and generates the majority of its large profit ($6.25 billion in 2009) from advertising through its AdWorks program.

The Google search engine is Google's most popular service. According to comScore, the Google search engine is the dominant search engine on the Web, with a market share of 65.6%. The Google search engine has developed to include searching in Google News, Google Maps, Google Video, Google Desktop, Google Books, and Google Mail. In 2010, Google began to be pitted against Apple as it became clear that Google is focusing on developing competition for iTunes, iPhone, and Apple TV.

Google is one of the premiere search engines on the Internet today. It was started in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were both working on their Ph.Ds at Stanford at the time. The company continues to expand the free services offered to users of the Internet. Google took off, and has continued to grow almost exponentially since then.

They have added specialized search sites, like Google Maps and Google Video. Google Earth is also a popular product and it allows you to install an application that allows you to see things from a bird's eye view or zoomed in close from street level. It can be a great educational tool, and a lot of fun to just explore with it.

The Google Toolbar, which is customizable, can be added to Internet Explorer or FireFox, to allow easier access to the Google features. It will give suggestions of popular searches while you are typing in your search. It include features like a Spell Check, Translations, and AutoFill for forms on websites.

Google continues to expand and regularly introduces new ways to access information using the technology, including the new Google TV. It will allow users to watch television along with accessing the Internet, allowing them to customize their viewing like never before. Users will also be able to access content on the web that is relevant to the show being watched and instantly discuss the shows with other users around the world.

Google manages to stay at the cutting edge of technology, constantly adapting and expanding on their solid foundation.
