On January 5, 2010, Google announced and released their smartphone the Nexus One. The Nexus One is built by HTC and runs Google’s Android operating system. Users can buy the Nexus one with a contract on T-Mobile (with Verizon and Vodafone coming later) or unlocked for use on any network.

The Google Phone is the flagship smart phone for Google. The phone is a HTC Nexus One released on January 5th, 2010 and runs the Android operating system. Features like noise cancelling headphones, GPS turn by turn driving directions, and voice to text technology are all that you would expect from the search engine giant Google.

Google Phone Availability

The Google Phone is sold unlocked and not restricted for use on a single provider. In the US T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all offer versions of the HTC Nexus One Google Phone. The phone is also available around the world including much of Asia, Europe, and Australia.

Google Phone Camera

The Google Phone comes equipped with an auto-focus camera with LED flash and digital zoom. The phone is capable of displaying most popular movie and image file types and has 512 MB of internal memory.

Google Phone Reviews

The Google Phone has received mixed reviews. The Android 2.2 release cause wifi connectivity issues and failed to connect. The phone had several other touch screen and operating system issues, most of which were fixed by updates. It went head to head with Apple’s iPhone and most believed it did not meet up to the capabilities of the iPhone.

Future of Google Phone

Google had stopped selling the Nexus One on its web store as of July 2010. The phone is still available in retail stores. In a July 2010 interview, CEO Eric Schmidt stated Google would not have a follow up for the Nexus One Google Phone.
