Haiti forever changed on 1/12/10 when a devastating earthquake destroyed countless lives and damaged the country.

About Haiti Disaster

On January 12th, 2010, Haiti was hit with it's worst earthquake in two centuries. The quake, which hit south of the capital Port-au-prince, registered 7.0 on the magnitude scale. At least 52 aftershocks have been reported since the initial earthquake. 200,000 have been identified as deceased and another 300,000 have been treated for injury. It is suspected that up to 3 million people have been affected by the earthquake.

Haiti's infrastructure has taken a huge blow as an estimated 250,000 homes and 30,000 commercial buildings had either collapsed or suffered severe damage. The total cost of the damage is estimated to be in the billions.
