Harley Davidson

Harley Davidson

Harley-Davidson is an American motorcycle manufacturer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin founded in the early 20th century. Harley specializes in large, powerful motorcycles designed for highway riding. They have a classic simple design, and a distinctive exhaust tone derived from high torque engines, and often poorly adjusted carburetors. Licensing of the Harley-Davidson logo accounts for almost 5% of the company's net revenue.

About Harley Davidson

One of the most tangible elements of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle is its engine. They have a distinct look and sound, often imitated and rarely duplicated. Harley engines are V- Twin engines, with two cylinders set at 45 degree angles opposite of each other.

This design causes the cylinders to fire at uneven intervals, they have kept the design because of the strong association of the sound with the bikes

The ignitions are on a dual fire system and do not have a distributor so the spark plugs fire regardless of the position, compression or exhaust stroke of the cylinder, which wastes a spark. This adds a the occasional pop to the already rough sounding potato-potato of the Harley V-Twin.
