About Harry Potter

Known For: Being a fictional character in the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling.

Harry Potter is the son of Lilly Evans Potter, a muggle born witch, and James Potter, a wizard. Traumatically, his parents were killed by Lord Voldemort, an evil wizard, when he was around the age of one. Harry too was going to be killed but, unlike all other victim's of Voldemort, Harry lived through Voldemort’s attack and only sustained a scar on his forehead. His surviving Voldemort's attack also critically wounded the dark lord, weakening him to a slithering ghost of a man, and scattering his minions into hiding. Harry Potter is known as "The boy who lived" because he survived the Killing Curse.

Harry’s young life wasn’t very pleasant. As an orphan, he was raised by his mother’s relatives, the Dursley’s. They despised magic and treated Harry poorly. They kept everything magic away from Harry, and kept in him a closet under the staircase. When Harry was 11 he found out that he was a wizard from Hagrid, Hogwart’s Gameskeeper who visited him on a stormy night. Upon meeting, Harry enrolled in Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he was trained as a wizard, excelled in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and played Quidditch as a Seeker.

At Hogwart's, Harry became lifelong friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. While attending wizard school he also encountered many trials and fought many battles. As "The Boy Who Lived," the chosen one to defeat Voldemort, Harry was a constant target for Deatheaters and even Lord Voldemort himself. Harry's will to survive and defeat Voldemort was tested throughout his life, losing friends, allies, and mentors in the process.

SPOILER ALERT: Some of Harry’s accomplishments include, saving Ginny Weasley from the Chamber of Secrets, winning the Triwizard Tournament, forming Dumbledore’s Army, and defeating Lord Voldemort. Harry eventually marries Ginny Weasley and they have 3 children together. Harry becomes an Auror which is an elite unit of the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement. They are trained extensively for 3 years to capture Dark Wizards and Witches.
