Hawaii is an island state located in the central of the Pacific ocean southwest of the continental United States. The state consists of eight main islands which are: Niihau, Kauai, Molokai, Oahu, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui, and Hawaii. The climate in Hawaii is tropical with less humidity and temperatures due to the eastern trade winds. High temperatures year round average in the 80’s F with the higher end in the summertime.

About Hawaii

From 1894 to 1898 Hawaii was governed by the Republic of Hawaii. The Republic rule ended on July 4, 1894 with the Newlands Resolution where the Republic was annexed to the US becoming the Territory of Hawai?i on July 7, 1898. Hawaii was officially admitted to the union on August 21, 1959 becoming the 50th US state. The total land area of Hawaii is 10,931 sq miles ranked #43 in the United States.

Honolulu is the state capital of Hawaii and is also the largest city in the state. Hawaii's nickname is The Aloha State or Paradise of the Pacific. The state bird is the Nene, the state flower is the Hibiscus, and the state tree is the Kukui. The Hawaii state motto is: Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina i ka Pono which is Hawaiian for: The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.
