Healthcare

Healthcare is important to everyone. Getting affordable health insurance has been a major issue for many Americans. As the population ages with Baby Boomers entering old age, the costs to society are greater and greater. In 2010 lawmakers began to deal with the fact that around 46 million Americans had no health insurance.

About Healthcare

Healthcare is defined as the prevention and treatment of illnesses. Healthcare reform has been making headlines in 2010 because of the President’s Healthcare Reform Bill. The president signed the Affordable Care Act on March 14, 2010. Most of these changes will not happen immediately but will take until 2014 to fully come into affect. It is designed to help Americans afford healthcare and receive quality service.

Healthcare is provided by people in the medical field, including doctors, nurses, dentists, and optometrists to name a few. Healthcare insurance plays a role in receiving these services. When you receive care you need to pay for these services, having insurance helps to cut the out of pocket expense. However, the cost of healthcare insurance can be phenomenal. Having a job with health benefits is a big help but if you are unable to work or have a job without benefits the cost of healthcare falls into your lap.

Free health care is available usually at clinics in your area. Government assisted healthcare is called Medical Assistance or Medicaid. You need to contact your county assistance office for more information.
