About Hyundai

Chung Ju-Yung founded the Hyundai Motor Company in 1967 after finding success in the construction business. A year later, Hyundai teamed up with some proven engineers and collaborated with both Ford and Mitsubishi to create the first Korean car. In 1975 the Pony was born and Hyundai began to import it across the globe. Hyundai then turned its attention to the U.S. market and ten years later introduced the Excel to America. With an affordable price tag and good reviews, Hyundai began to gain a good reputation in the U.S.

Hyundai would soon start to experience some terrible quality issues and its reputation suffered. In response, the company began to invest heavily in their quality, design and manufacturing and completely revamped their image. In 2004 Hyundai introduced a new 10 year warranty and sales began to increase. The South Korean automaker quickly gained its reputation back and continued to focus on the American market. As a result Hyundai has become one of the most popular brands in America.
