On January 27, 2010 Apple Inc. announced their new tablet computer, the iPad. The iPad, which is being compared to the iPod Touch but with a larger screen, will run on an operating system (OS) similar to the iPhone. Users will be able to purchase applications from iTunes to run on their iPad along with browsing the internet on the included Safari browser. Interaction with the iPad will be done via the on-screen keyboard and multi-touch interface.

The iPad is available for purchase in 2 different models with 3 different capacities. Customers can purchase the basic model with just Wi-Fi or upgrade and get a model with Wi-Fi + 3G support. 3G service will be provided by AT&T and will be available in 2 plans, unlimited or 250MB per month. The iPad has a 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB flash drive for storing books, movies, photos, and more.

The iPad became available for sale in the US on April 3, 2010.
