About IPod

Apple's iPod is the benchmark when it comes to mp3/mp4 audio devices. Since the launch of iPod on October 23rd, 2001, it has received stellar reviews for its design, usability, and audio quality. It is one of the most successful consumer electronic products in history, and the best selling mp3 device on the market.

iPod is currently in its fifth generation (model). Improvements from the first model include, elimination of buttons, touch sensitive scroll wheels, larger hard drives, ability to view and take pictures/video, the addition of USB ports for synching and charging, and touch screens.

iPod is made to be compatible with Apple's iTunes music platform. iTunes is a paid online service that offers music, movies, television shows, podcasts, etc. iTunes offers some free content, but for the most part it will set you back about $.99/song. iPods are available in a 2 Gigabyte version all the way to a 160 Gigabyte version. Prices range from $59 to $399. The smallest version holds about 1,000 songs, while the IPod Classic can hold up to 40,000.
