Jacqueline Ruth "Jacki" Weaver (born 25 May 1947) is an Australian theatre, film, and television actress. She is best known outside Australia for her performance in Animal Kingdom, for which she was nominated for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Weaver was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Her father, Arthur, was a Sydney solicitor, and her mother, Edith (nee Simpson), a migrant from northern England. She attended Hornsby Girls' High School. She has had a number of relationships/marriages, including with director Richard Wherrett and media figure Derryn Hinch. She has a son, Dylan, and two grandchildren. Weaver has been working in Australian film, stage and television since the 1960s. In 1964 at the Palace Theatre in Sydney, Weaver and a number of other Australian singers such as The Delltones and her then-boyfriend Bryan Davies performed a satire on the Gidget movies, in which Weaver performed as "Gadget."
