Jane Lynch

Jane Lynch is an American actress and comedian most famous for starring on the hit Fox musical comedy 'Glee.' Lynch stars as the tough-nosed cheerleader coach, Sue Sylvester.

Jane, a character actress who is much in demand, works constantly in TV, theater, and film. She has carved out a role as a strong, confident, and hilarious woman, and has played both gay and straight roles. She is an openly gay woman and in 2005 was named one of POWER UP's ''10 Amazing Gay Women in Show Business.''

Her comedic timing is extraordinary. Jane earned her MFA in theater at Cornell and her BA in theater from Illinois State University. She started out touring with the Second City troop in and then starred as Carol Brady in the theatrical production of 'The Brady Bunch.'

Lynch has appeared in numerous TV shows, including 'Psych,' 'Monk,' 'Weeds,' 'Arrested Development,' 'Boston Legal,' 'Friends,' 'Two and a Half Men,' 'The West Wing,' 'Gilmore Girls,' and many others. However, she is best known for playing the stern and ruthless Sue Sylvester on the Fox TV musical comedy 'Glee.'

Her filmography includes the movies 'Best in Show,' 'A Mighty Wind,' '40-Year-Old Virgin,' 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,' and 'Julie and Julia,' among others.
